For far too long, residents and visitors to Sanibel and Captiva Islands had to go far too far — off island — for outstanding Tex-Mex cuisine.
The opening early March of Rosalita’s Cantina Sanibel has changed all that.
Newly imagined occupying the location formerly known as 400 Rabbits (also Mexican), Rosalita’s is the most recent addition to the original Rosalita’s locations in St. Louis. Owned by part-time island residents (who are also leading the Green Flash of Captiva Island to a new and improved future), Rosalita’s features a comprehensive and delicious menu of traditional Mexican favorites, to-die-for guac and salsa, and awesomely awesome Margaritas among its many beverage offerings.
Even better, the portions are literally huge (this writer enjoyed half of a 14-inch tortilla, probably two-pound shrimp burrito before giving up and packing it for home) — and the prices are value-added. Plus you’ll find the place lively, entertaining, energetic, pleasantly loud with servers and staff who’ve clearly been taught the meaning of terrific dining service and experience.
